Call for Abstracts!

We want to hear from you! Managed Aquifer Recharge covers such a wide variety of activities that it is impossible to capture all the potential topics in a call for abstracts. What we have listed in the link below is a general guide to how topics may be organized at the conference. Don’t feel constrained by this list, just submit your abstract!

History

Preeminent Symposium World’s preeminent symposium on aquifer recharge. The International Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge (ISMAR) is the world’s preeminent symposium on aquifer recharge through engineered facilities. With the continued unsustainable overuse of groundwater in many areas of the world, managed aquifer recharge (MAR), or the intentional recharge of groundwater aquifers, has become a fundamental tool in our global water management efforts to restore and sustainably manage declining aquifer supplies. MAR as part of an integrated and holistic approach to water management is how the world will develop resilient groundwater supplies in the face of continued growth and change climate. International Event An international event. ISMAR 11 marks the return of this world symposium to Southern California, USA. ISMAR started with the first Artificial Recharge of Groundwater Conference in 1988 in Anaheim, convened by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Since then, ISMAR symposia have been run jointly under the auspices of the ASCE, International Association of Hydrologists (IAH), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). ISMAR is truly an international event, having been held in Orlando, Fl (1994), Amsterdam (1998), Adelaide, Australia (2002), Berlin (2005), Phoenix, AZ, (2007), Abu Dhabi (2010), Beijing (2013), Mexico City (2016), and Madrid (2019).
